Patrick Reed and John Huh continue to head the field at the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina after both players staged late third-round recoveries to remain clear of the chasing pack on 10 under.

Reed started a rain-affected day on 11 under and with a one-shot lead over Huh but he looked to be slipping rapidly down the leaderboard after bogeying four of the opening 12 holes while picking up only one birdie.

However, the PGA Tour rookie turned things round with three successive birdies from the 14th hole and was on course to finish the day with a level-par 70 only to drop another shot on the par-four 18th.

That left him in a share for top spot with fellow 23-year-old Huh, who did shoot a 70 at a soggy Sedgefield Country Club.

Like Reed, things looked a lot different early on for Huh as he carded a triple-bogey seven on the second but, after playing the next 10 holes to par, he finished with a flourish with birdies on the 13th, 15th and 16th.

The two Americans are one shot clear of compatriots Zach Johnson (66), Bob Estes (68) and Jordan Spieth (70).

Johnson's four-under-par round was the joint-best of the day alongside Brendan Steele and it would have been even better for the former Masters champion but he three-putted for a bogey on the last - his only dropped shot of the day.

The leading non-American is defending champion Sergio Garcia, whose second successive round of 70 left him on five under for the tournament.

England's Ross Fisher, the first-round joint leader, slipped back to three under after struggling to a 74 today.
