Sergio Garcia has climbed two places in the lastest world rankings despite his late meltdown in the final round of the Players Championship.

Garcia was level with Tiger Woods with two holes to play, but dumped two shots into the water on the 17th and another on the 18th to eventually finish in a tie for eighth.

That was enough to move the Spaniard from 15th to 13th in the standings, with Woods' 78th PGA Tour victory increasing his advantage over world number two Rory McIlroy, who finished alongside Garcia.

Latest leading positions in official world rankings:

1 Tiger Woods 13.66, 2 Rory McIlroy 10.42, 3 Adam Scott 7.63, 4 Justin Rose 6.57, 5 Brandt Snedeker 6.30 6 Luke Donald 6.28, 7 Louis Oosthuizen 5.75, 8 Graeme McDowell 5.35, 9 Steve Stricker 5.31, 10, Phil Mickelson 5.23, 11 Lee Westwood 5.21 12 Matt Kuchar 5.13, 13 Sergio Garcia 4.89 14 Keegan Bradley 4.77, 15 Ian Poulter 4.71 16 Webb Simpson 4.68 17 Charl Schwartzel 4.67, 18 Bubba Watson 4.62, 19 Dustin Johnson 4.40, 20 Jason Dufner 4.30
