US duo Keegan Bradley and Brendan Steele grabbed a one-shot lead over former major winners Nick Price and Mark Calcavecchia in the second round of the Franklin Templeton Shootout.
The rookies carded a 10-under 62 in the best ball format to break out of an overnight tie with the Champions Tour veterans in the post-season event hosted by Greg Norman at Tiburon Golf Club.
Calcavecchia and Price, both former British Open winners, got off to a slow start but rallied, with the former's birdie at the 18th securing a 63 and pulling them back within one shot of the lead.
Saturday's best round was a 12-under 60 fired by South African Rory Sabbatini and Venezuela's Jhonattan Vegas, who will enter the final day two shots off the lead.
American Rickie Fowler and Colombian Camilo Villegas combined for a 63 and were three adrift.
