Irish pair Paul Cutler and Alan Dunbar have been included in the Britain and Ireland side for the Walker Cup match against the United States at Royal Aberdeen on 10-11 September.

Portstewart man Cutler came close to upsetting the professionals at the recent Irish Open in Killarney, where he was in contention on six under at the halfway stage.

The 22-year-old 2011 West of Ireland Amateur Open Championship and the Irish Amateur Close Championship winner eventually finished as top amateur in a share for 21st place missing out on a purse of €16,950.

Dunbar won the North of Ireland Amateur Championship in 2010 and the Rathmore man is joined in this year’s side with five English players, two Scots and 17-year-old Welshman Rhys Pugh, the youngest member of the ten-man squad.

Tom Lewis, the 20-year-old from Welwyn Garden City in England who led The Open with an amateur record 65 last month, is joined on the side by compatriot Stiggy Hodgson, the only survivor from the team beaten 16 1/2 - 9 1/2 at Merion two years ago.

Steven Brown, Jack Senior and Andy Sullivan are the remaining English golfers named alongside Michael Stewart and James Byrne from Scotland.

Non-playing captain: Nigel Edwards.

Reserves: David Law, Ross Kellett.
