Gavin Moynihan captured his first ever individual Irish title on Sunday as he claimed the Irish Amateur Open title at a windswept Royal Dublin.
The 17-year-old displayed immense control despite 45kph gusts at the Dollymount links to record a one-shot victory on seven over par from Robin Kind of the Netherlands.
The fifth year student from Malahide Community School in Dublin became the youngest ever Irish winner of the event.
It's been a wonderful year for Moynihan, who finished third at the Junior Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in September, while last month he won the coveted Peter McEvoy Trophy at Copt Heath near Birmingham.
He also helped Malahide Community School to victory in the Irish Schools Match Play Championship in April at Loughrea.
Brian Casey from Headfort recovered from a disastrous opening round of 80 to claim third on ten over.
US golfer Mike Miller and Dutchman Daan Huizing finished in a tie for fourth place.
