McDowell enjoying break ahead of Ryder Cup

Graeme McDowell has revealed he will contest just one more tournament before the Ryder Cup begins at the start of next month.

The Portrush man will take part in the Austrian Open in a fortnight's time, in what will be his first outing since the US PGA Championship three weeks ago.

'I've taken a few weeks' break to focus on the rest of my season and to be fresh for the Ryder Cup,' said the US Open champion.

Prize money in Austria, where the event has been switched from Fontana to the Diamond Country Club near Vienna, has been cut from €1,000,000 to €750,000, making it one of the smallest purses on the European Tour.

The Ryder Cup will be held at Celtic Manor in Wales on October 1-3.
