Ernie Els captures WGC title at Miami

Ernie Els fired a six-under par 66 in Sunday's final round to capture the World Golf Championships CA Championship by four strokes over countryman Charl Schwartzel.

Els finished on 18-under par 270 and served notice he is back on top form with the year's first major championship, the Masters, on the horizon.

'I'm going to take a lot of positives from this, especially with the Masters in a month,' Els said.

'I really wanted to play well. I thought my game was in good shape. I just wanted to come out and prove it to myself for once.'

Schwartzel, who was level with Els for the lead after three rounds, fired a final-round 70 but was close enough to make Els sweat.

'I'm 40 years old. I've had a tough run. My hairs are standing up,' Els said.

Padraig Harrington finished on eleven under in a tie for third place after a round of 71 during which he was unable to keep pace with the two South Africans on the back nine.

Graeme McDowell shot a sensational final round of 66 to storm up the leaderboard into a tie for sixth place.

Rory McIlroy carded a round of 73 to finish on seven over par.
