Murphy pays heavy price for 36th placed finish

Gary Murphy has lost his European Tour card for next season and will need to go back to Qualifying School to retain his status on the European Tour.

Murphy's two-over-par final round of 74 at the JBWere Australian Masters left him in a tie for 36th in Melbourne; this crucially left him in 124th place on the European Tour Race to Dubai money list.

He needed to haul himself into the top 119 to retain his card, but fell just under €20,000 short having won €234,000 in his 34 tournaments this season.
