GAA President Liam O'Neill wants to relaunch the All-Ireland Poc Fada Championships, feeling the event has suffered from a lack of imagination.

The traditional event has fallen off the radar in recent times and O’Neill is keen to create interest in it again.

He told RTÉ that he feels it has become outdated: "We want to develop it. We want to have it more significant.

"We've done the same thing for 40 years with the Poc Fada. It never gets the attention it deserves.

"I want to upgrade to have the provincial Poc Fada a more significant event.

"The Poc Fada has run out of steam and far from wanting to do any damage to it, I want to develop it."
