Cork captain Rena Buckley salutes the effort the squad put in as the county celebrates another TG4 All-Ireland senior success.

The victory over Kerry on a 0-16 to 0-07 scoreline gave the Rebelettes a seventh top flight title in eight years – further cementing their place as the dominant force in the code.

Buckley, from the Donoughmore club, told RTÉ Sport afterwards: “We are delighted to have got the victory as a lot of preparation has gone in all year from players and from the coaching staff. Every time you win an All-Ireland is special – something to treasure for many years to come.

“The squad we have at the moment is strong and it’s a battle to get into the first XV. But the spirit in the group is strong and I’m delighted to have the honour of captaining the side and being able to represent my club.”

While Cork were always in control against their neighbours, Buckley was wary of the Kerry goal threat. “We squandered a few chances in the first half and we were disappointed about that.

"Kerry are a team who can grab goals at crucial timesas they proved throughout the year. So we were determined to keep them out, while hopefully getting chances at the other end to pop over a few scores.”
