Offaly boss Brian Whelehan feels that the play-off loss to Antrim let the whole county down.

The Faithful County lost the Allianz Hurling League Division 1B play-off to Antrim and now have to beat Division 2A champions Kerry today in Thurles (6.30pm) to maintain their status in the second tier.

Whelehan told the Midlands Tribune: “Everyone feels that not only have they let themselves down but the county as a whole and you don't want to take away from Antrim's win but that is the feeling in our camp from an Offaly point of view.

"No one has been more disappointed than the squad and everyone involved in Offaly hurling.

“Trying to pick the lads up the last week has been tough. When you suffer a defeat in the manner which we did in Ballycastle, it is very hard to get refocused. That is what last week has been about."
