Kilkenny and Galway will meet in the Bord na Móna Walsh Cup semi-final next Sunday in Freshford, after wins over DIT and Offaly respectively this afternoon.

At Freshford, Kilkenny were hugely impressive in their 5-23 to 1-09 win over Fitzgibbon Cup hopefuls DIT.

Brian Cody's charges were goal-hungry in their first competitive game of 2014, and three-pointers from Joe Brennan and Jonjo Farrell helped the Cats to a 2-07 to 0-04 interval lead.

Full-forward Mark Kelly got in on a piece of the goal action on the restart, with the O'Loughlin Gaels clubman netting two second half goals.

Farrell also bagged his second goal of the game and Kilkenny's fifth late on to seal a 26-point win.

It wasn't so easy for Galway as they dug deep to claim a slender 1-14 to 1-13 victory over Offaly at O'Connor Park, Tullamore.

Joe Bergin bagged four first-half points as the hosts led by 0-07 to 0-05 at half-time, while Niall Healy scored all bar one of the visitors opening half scores.

Brian Whelehan's charges continued to prove strong early on the restart, with a goal from Kevin Connolly helping them to a 1-08 to 0-05 lead.

But Galway came good with Healy netting a penalty, with Galway taking a 1-14 to 1-12 lead, and although Offaly pegged back a late point there wasn't time for an equaliser, as Anthony Cunningham's side held out for victory.
