Derek McGrath is the new Waterford hurling manager and has agreed a three year term with the County board.

He confirmed that John Mullane will not be approached about a return to Waterford but he is leaving the door open to the likes of Eoin Kelly to return to the fold.

He said: "John is a non-runner. He is enjoying his retirement. He has two beautiful daughters and enjoying spending time with them. He is enjoying it as a pundit with RTÉ and the Independent,

"I think he made it clear last year that he wouldn't be coming back into the fold no matter who is in charge. He has given great service to Waterford and is entitled to enjoy his retirement. In regards to other players, we're going to have an open mind in terms of the whole policy of the panel throughout the year.

"We will follow the Kilkenny route in terms of bringing players in and out and we will be looking at everybody throughout the year."
