Heavy rain reduced the crowd that welcomed the Cork hurling team home this evening to around 3,000 people.

Cork manager Jimmy Barry Murphy promised that the team would one day return with the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

He thanked the supporters who had followed the Cork team throughout the season.

Goalkeeper Anthony Nash described the defeat to Clare as "heart-breaking".
