Michael Ryan has stepped down as manager of the Waterford senior hurlers.

Ryan served two years in charge of the Déise, but made it known to the county board that he will be not be looking to extend his tenure for the 2014 season.

Waterford exited this year’s championship after an absorbing tussle with Kilkenny in an All-Ireland Qualifier clash on 13 July.

Last year Ryan guided his charges to a Munster final appearance where they lost to Tipperary.
