Kilkenny’s Noel Hickey has announced his retirement from inter-county hurling.

Hickey, who joined the Cats squad in 2000 when he was named Young Hurler of the Year, won his ninth All-Ireland medal last September.

The 32-year-old from the Dunnamaggin club also won eight Leinster medals, six league titles and three All-Stars.
