The death has occurred of Frankie Walsh, who captained the Waterford hurlers to All-Ireland success in 1959.
The 76-year-old died in Waterford Regional Hospital after being taken ill recently.
The victory in '59 was the last time the Déise county lifted Liam MacCarthy following victory over Kilkenny after a replay.
