Waterford senior hurling goalkeeper Clinton Hennessy has announced his retirement from inter-county action.

Hennessy made his debut for the Déise in 2005 and won two Munster titles and an Allianz NHL medal.

He will continue to play for his club Ardmore and cited family commitments as the reason why he has bowed out now.

His departure follows on from defender Eoin Murphy's decision to quit the county scene last week.
