Mike McNamara's reign as Clare manager has come to an end, as expected, after he tendered his resignation to the Clare County Board tonight.

A special meeting of the County Board was called for 8.30pm this evening at the West County Hotel in Ennis, where McNamara ended weeks of speculation by offering his resignation.

His offer was accepted, and Ger O'Loughlin is now expected to take the reins, possibly as early as Thursday.

O'Loughlin was proposed and seconded at tonight's meeting, but his position was not ratified. However, he is expected to be ratified officially at the County Convention on Thursday.
