Westmeath avenged last year's Christy Ring Cup final defeat with a seven-point win over Carlow ensuring the hosts took Kehoe Cup honours at Kinnegad.

In a game that ebbed and flowed throughout, Westmeath always held the edge, despite the likes of captain Shane Kavanagh trying hard for Carlow.

Just as in the semi-final win over DCU, Brendan Murtagh (0-06) and Darren McCormack (0-04) proved to be the main players for the Lake County.

Murtagh and McCormack tormented the Carlow defence as Westmeath held out for a comfortable victory.
