Helped by a number of Kilkenny stars, Ballyhale Shamrocks beat defending champions Birr at Nowlan Park this afternoon to secure the Leinster Club SHC title for the sixth time.
The Kilkenny champions, who were last provincial winners in 2006, thundered ahead in today's decider with goals from TJ Reid (5 minutes) and Eoin Reid (16).
The Birr defence struggled to cope with the pace and power of the Ballyhale attack and the Reid brothers took their chances with clinical ease.
Michael Fennelly and Henry Shefflin (0-05) also impressed as Ballyhale took a 2-08 to 0-06 half-time lead.
Simon Whelahan (0-05) and Brian Whelahan (0-01) accounted for Birr's first half scores.
The Offaly aces cut the gap to four points with a Brian Whelahan goal and Paul O'Meara point but Shefflin had the final say with a late free.
