Westmeath 2-24 Down 2-15
Updated: Monday, 14 Apr 2008 09:55
Goals in either half from Derek McNicholas and Niall Kilcoyne saw Westmeath book a place in the NHL Division 2 decider against Carlow.
Despite Westmeath emerging convincing winners, Down made the early running in this game and a goal from Gareth Johnson in the opening quarter gave the Ulstermen the early advantage.
However, Westmeath powered towards a 1-12 to 1-07 interval advantage and maintained control throughout the second half, despite Johnson clinching a second goal from a '65' in injury-time.
