The Cork County Board have confirmed that the county's hurlers will not be taking part in their scheduled Waterford Crystal Cup game against Limerick IT on Thursday night.

Both Cork's hurling and football panels have made themselves unavailable for selection as part of their protest over the means through which backroom management teams are selected.

The game was originally meant to take place last Sunday but was postponed amid hopes that the impasse could be overcome.

A decision on whether Cork would play was expected last night but was deferred until this morning after consultation with the Munster Council.

Limerick IT have now received a walkover.
