Paul Brady will meet his doubles partner Michael Finnegan as he steps up his bid for a fourth title in a row at the World Handball Championships in Dublin.

Brady has progressed to the men’s open semi-finals with smooth victories over Cork's Killian Carroll, Puerto Rico's Cesar Sala and Mexican Luis Cordova.

The reigning champion is on the verge of reaching a fourth world final, but must now face his close friend in an all-Cavan semi-final clash.

Finnegan, one of the best doubles players in the game, has recorded stunning victories over Billy O'Donnell, Sean Lenning and Naty Alvarado to reach the last four.

Luis Moreno has prevented an all-Irish semi-final line-up after prevailing against Armagh's Charlie Shanks, the American now meeting Robbie McCarthy following the Westmeathman's thrilling tie-break victory over Dublin's Eoin Kennedy in the last four on Monday.
