Kerry boss Eamonn Fitzmaurice says he is an admirer of Mayo counterpart James Horan’s work ahead of this afternoon's ’s All-Ireland semi-final.

The Kingdom have had the edge in recent championship meetings between the sides but the Kerry boss is full of praise for the job that Horan has done with the Connacht side, as they bid to reach their third final in a row.

Fitzmaurice told RTÉ Sport: “He’d done a fantastic job there and he’s really brought the team on year on year.

“I think they feel it’s probably their year this year and they’re really pushing hard for it.”

Captain Fionn Fitzgerald suggested that his side will take inspiration from last year’s semi-final loss to eventual champions Dublin into the Croke Park showdown (3.30pm).

He said: “Last year we lost to Dublin in the All-Ireland semi-final and that was a tough one to take. Mayo have been the second best opposition to them in the last over the last couple of years, they’ve been in two All-Ireland finals.

“They have a massive amount of experience and they’re coming at this game like a train.

"Look, we’re under no illusions about the task that’s at hand but I think we’re in a good position to challenge them and we’re looking forward to Sunday."
