Monaghan star Conor McManus is in danger of missing out on the entire championship after suffering knee and ankle injuries in a club game.

A scan revealed that the forward sustained “severe” damage in a collision with Tommy Freeman during Friday’s game between Clontibret and Magheracloone.

Quoted in the Irish news, Monaghan manager Malachy O’Rourke said: "We are hoping that it would not be conclusive just yet and we would be hoping that it would not be cruciate or anything like that, but he has done fairly severe damage to both the knee and the ankle.

"It is a bad blow for Conor personally and for the team. He would obviously be a huge loss for Monaghan."

The 2013 Ulster champions play Tyrone or Down on 15 June.
