Laois cruised to a comprehensive 1-20 to 0-08 victory at O'Moore Park against a Galway team that already look like being dragged into a Allianz NFL Division 2 relegation fight.

Tomas O'Flatharta's side were never troubled by Galway and ran away from the Tribesmen in a second half in which his side outscored their rivals by a massive ten points.

For their part, Galway were able to at least keep pace with Laois until a cooly taken goal from Kevin Meaney minutes before half-time seemed to knock the wind from the visitors.

Laois scored four points on the back of Meaney's effort and took a 1-07 to 0-05 lead into the break.

Galway's expected second-half rally never materialised as they were blitzed by a mobile and speedy Laois front line.

Points from Meaney and Billy Sheehan were answered by a Sean Armstrong free for Galway but from then on out, it was all one-way traffic as Laois hit seven unanswered points and left Galway with some big questions as to their performance.
