A 60th minute Conor Dorman point earned UCC their 21st Sigerson Cup title as they beat UUJ by 0-10 to 0-09 under the floodlights at Queens University in Belfast on Saturday night.

Leading by 0-09 to 0-02 eight minutes into the second half, the Lee-side outfit looked odds-on for victory, but had to dig deep, after a strong Jordanstown comeback.

Kerry's Conor Cox, scorer of seven points in UCC's semi-final win over NUI Maynooth on Saturday was once again impressive, and fired five first-half points as UCC led by 0-06 to 0-02 at half-time.

Tyrone's Mattie Donnelly and Monaghan's Kieran Hughes registering UUJ's first half points.

UUJ would rue their missed chances, with Adrian McGuckin's side firing seven in the opening half, and bringing their wides tally to 17 by the full-time whistle.

Donnelly, Hughes and Jamie Clarke all shot wide inside two and a half minutes of the restart.

UCC moved seven points clear by the 38th minute thanks to scores from Cox, Luke Connolly and Michael Quillivan, but UUJ fought back strongly.

Conor McAliskey and Hughes claimed a point each, but Tyrone's Ronan O'Neill really pulled the strings, with four of UUJ's next five points, with the other score coming from keeper Rory Beggan from a 45 metre free.

O'Neill's fourth point tied the game with 100 seconds left on the time-clock, but Bishopstown clubman Dorman popped up from defence to register a well-worked point to deliver a UCC win.

After the game UCC captain Paul Geaney received the Cup from Comhairle Ardoideachais Chairman Ray O'Brien, while Dorman claimed the Man of the Match award.
