Plans to stage the 2014 Inter-Provincial finals in Texas have been shelved, according to GAA Director General Páraic Duffy.
Duffy said the viability of staging the game in America had not been proven and the final was now likely to be staged in Ireland.
There had been speculation that the ailing series would be held in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas as part of next March's North Texas Irish Festival.
"That's gone," said Duffy. "An approach came from Dallas but the figures weren't adding up so it's dead and buried now."
Previous Interpros have been held in Boston, Paris, Rome and Abu Dhabi in the past decade.
Meanwhile, Duffy confirmed that Dublin will play their home matches in next year's National Football League in Croke Park.
Consideration was being given to returning to Parnell Park because of falling attendances and the lack of scope for double headers with the Dublin hurlers, but Duffy said he expects Croke Park to be finalised in the coming days.
