The GAA has announced details of rule changes that will come into effect on 1 January.

The new rules include the introduction of the black card, which will see players being dismissed, with a replacement allowed, for a series of cynical offences.

Other new rules include a change in the number of substitutes allowed, distinction between deliberate and accidental fouls, definition of the tackle, and the introduction of a clearer advantage rule

The rules will also allow for a player in possession to score a point with an open-handed hand-pass.

In the video below referee David Coldrick and chairman of the National Referees' Committee Pat McEnaney go through the changes with RTÉ's Marty Morrissey.
