Niall Carew has been named as the new manager of the Waterford senior footballers.
Carew served as a selector for the Kildare footballers over the past five seasons working with manager Kieran McGeeney
Waterford have been searching for a new manager following the departure of John Owens, who exited after the All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Wicklow last July.
The county will begin 2013 in Division 4 of the Allianz League and will face either Cork or Clare in the Munster championship.
