Meath boss Seamus McEnaney was quick to highlight a positive team ethic after his side’s impressive Leinster SFC semi-final victory over Kildare at Croke Park.

The Royals finished strongly too see off the Lilywhites on a 1-17 to 1-11 scoreline to set up a meeting with old rivals in the provincial decider on 22 July.

Speaking to RTÉ Sport after the game, McEnaney said: “I never doubted the players. We stayed focused on what we had to do and that was the first round of the championship against Wicklow.

"There was other stuff going on, but I was just concentrated on the team. We brought young lads through and five subs were introduced, who contributed 1-3 on the scoreline.

"It was always going to be a 20-man game against Kildare. They have been a bogey team for me over the last four or five years.

"The victory is only a ticket to the Leinster final and that’s where we are now. Semi-finals are for winning and we achieved that and we’ll move on.”
