Leinster manager Seán Boylan believes that the Interprovincial Series can play a vital role in preventing inter-county indiscipline.
The former Meath manager claims that the interaction between players from different counties can also help players to understand each other better.
“When it’s representative like that, you’re nearly allowed to express yourself in a different way. The true spirit of the game goes on, do you know what I mean?
"Sometimes it’s good for players to get that release because the players love to play but this is different and it’s a once-off opportunity,” Boylan said in The Irish Examiner.
Asked if he believed the camaraderie forged out of the series could help prevent violence during inter-county games, the four-time All-Ireland-winning manager replied: “Couldn’t be more important, couldn’t be more important."
Leinster play Munster next Sunday in Parnell Park at 2.00pm while Markievicz Park hosts the Ulster-Connacht clash at the same time.
The Interprovincial hurling semi-finals also take place on Sunday next with Leinster and Munster facing off in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny, and Ulster versus Connacht taking place in Ballinasloe.
Both matches have 2.00pm throw-ins.
