Mick O’Dwyer has pulled out of the race to succeed John O’Mahony as manager of the Mayo senior football team and is set to stick with Wicklow for another year.

The Kerry legend was one of several names strongly linked with the Mayo job but the Star has reported that he will not allow his name to go forward for consideration.

There are several other avenues open to the 74-year-old, including the option to manage Wicklow for a fifth successive year.

A press conference at which O'Dwyer's decision to stay on as manager of the Garden County for another season will be officially confirmed is due to be held tomorrow evening.
