Mick O'Dwyer is one of the five names that have been put forward for the vacant managerial role with the Mayo Senior Football team.

John Maughan, Denis Kearney, Anthony McGarry and James Horan have also been nominated for the position.

The selection committee could still choose a different option from the five-man list, with the county believed to be divided over the possibility of O'Dwyer being handed the job.

The Mayo News claims 'a number of prominent Mayo GAA supporters, both inside and outside the country, have expressed a desire to see the former Kerry manager’s name included as a potential successor to John O’Mahony.'

However, some executive and club officials are believed to be opposed to his appointment.
