Meath v Laois
Updated: Friday, 19 Mar 2010 18:19
Meath’s promotion charge was derailed somewhat when Tipperary edged them out in Tom Semple’s field last weekend, while Laois were in free-scoring form when hitting 0-24 against Westmeath.
Yet, a worry for the O’Moore men was the fact that they shipped three goals, and that may give the Meath forward line hope in front of their own supporters in Navan.
Peadar Byrne and Shane O’Rourke did well when introduced for the Royals against the Premiermen, and with Cian Ward and the Bray brothers always good for a few points, the hosts will feel that they can get the show back on the road.
In saying that, they will have to keep Michael John Tierney in check as the Laois player helped himself to 0-13 against Westmeath. Donie Kingston and Kevin Meaney also chipped in with fine scores.
Are the O’Moore county ready to make their own promotion surge? Saturday’s match will no doubt tell us that bit more about their credentials.
Expect a high-scoring encounter and a tentative vote for Eamonn O’Brien’s side.
Verdict: Meath
