Tipperary 0-08 Kildare 1-17

Hit by injury and suspension, Kildare still managed to brush Tipperary aside in impressive fashion at Semple Stadium.
Free-taker James Kavanagh landed eight points as Kieran McGeeney’s men, missing a total of seven regulars, recovered well from last weekend’s defeat to Down.
Corner forward James Donnelly found the net in the sixth minute, having been put through by Mark Scanlon.
Kildare were 1-05 to 0-04 to the good at half-time, with Kavanagh scoring three of the visitors' points.
Midfielder Darryl Flynn impressed throughout in an all-action display, while the ageless Anthony Rainbow was a thorn in Tipperary's side at centre-forward.
Conor Sweeney and Barry Grogan led the Tipperary scoring, but losing midfielder Hugh Coghlan to a 50th minute red card signalled the end for the home side who lost away to Laois in the opening round.
Points from Kavanagh, Karl Ennis and Padraig O'Neill at the start of the second half had left Tipp well adrift and Coghlan's dismissal for an off-the-ball clash with Flynn was the home side's death knell.
Using the extra man to build for more scores, O'Neill took his personal tally to three before dominant centre-fielder Dermot Earley darted through on a lengthy run to make his single scoring contribution.
Injuries to Hugh McGrillen and Rainbow took the gloss off the away win somewhat, while Tipp, with substitute Stephen Hahessy scoring two late points, showed some of the battling qualities they will need in order to stay in the league's second tier.
