Speculation that Ciaran McDonald would make a return to the Mayo football panel would appear to be wide of the mark after manager John O’Mahony omitted him from his 30-man panel for the upcoming Championship.

McDonald, who last played for Mayo in the 2007 season, announced his retirement from the inter-county scene after falling out with O'Mahony ahead of last year’s Championship campaign.

The Connacht side, however, will be able to call on the services of veterans James Nallen and David Heaney as they seek to win their first All-Ireland title since 1951, while former Young Footballer of the Year Keith Higgins is also included in the panel following a recent stint in Australia.

Mayo begin their quest to regain the Connacht Championship title with a trip to New York on 10 May. They will be expected to negotiate that hurdle ahead of a clash with either Roscommon or Leitrim on 21 June.

Mayo senior football squad:
C Barrett, G Cafferkey, D Clarke, K Conroy, T Cunniffe, A Dillon, P Gardiner, P Harte, D Heaney, K Higgins, T Howley, B Kelly, A Kilcoyne, R McGarrity, K McLoughlin, A Moran, B Moran, C Mortimer, T Mortimer, J Nallen, A O'Malley, K O'Malley, L O'Malley, A O'Shea, S O'Shea, BJ Padden, T Parsons, M Ronaldson, M Sweeney, D Vaughan.
