Donegal shocked All-Ireland champions Tyrone in Saturday’s Allianz NFL Division 1 clash, winning 0-11 to 0-08 at Ballybofey.

Tyrone got the better of the first half with points from Ryan Mellon, Sean Cavanagh and Colm McCullagh giving Mickey Harte’s men a 0-6 to 0-4 half-time lead.

Points by Stephen Griffin and midfielder Christy Toye levelled the game early in the second half and while Tyrone edged ahead thanks to another McCullagh point, Donegal took control.

And when Brian Roper’s point pushed the home side ahead, Tyrone had no response as Donegal eased home.

However, Sean Cavanagh almost grabbed an undeserved point when his shot hit the woodwork in the dying minutes of the game.

It was Donegal’s first victory of this season’s campaign and they now sit sixth in the division, a point behind Tyrone.
