Monaghan footballer Tommy Freeman and Tipperary hurler Eoin Kelly have been named the Vodafone GAA All Stars Players of the Month for February.
They were presented with their awards at a ceremony in Dublin’s Westbury Hotel.
Both players have been previous winners of this award.
Last June Tommy Freeman was honoured during Monaghan’s impressive run to the All-Ireland quarter-finals. He was also selected as a Vodafone All Star at the end of last season.
Now in his ninth season with the Monaghan seniors, Freeman has shown exceptional scoring form as Monaghan have begun the league in impressive fashion. He kicked eight points in the opening round victory over Roscommon and added another five to his overall tally in the victory against Cavan.
Eoin Kelly has already collected five Vodafone All Star awards and was last selected as player of the month in May 2006. Since first emerging as one of the brightest talents in hurling in 2000, Kelly has won every honour in the game.
During February he displayed his trademark accuracy from play and from placed balls when scoring 1-10 against Offaly and 1-12 against Limerick to give Tipperary the best possible start to the campaign under new manager Liam Sheedy.
Presenting the awards, GAA president Nickey Brennan said: ‘A new competitive season has only just got underway but already some familiar names are making the headlines.
‘Tommy and Eoin have shown tremendous consistency in their performances and there are exciting times ahead for both Monaghan and Tipperary.’
