LRC chief to intervene in Cork row

The first signs of a possible breakthrough in the ongoing players strike in Cork have emerged with new that Kieran Mulvey, chief executive of the Labour Relations Commission, is to facilitate talks between the squads and the county board.
The footballers are due to begin their Allianz Football League campaign against Meath on Saturday 2 February, but that game remains in doubt.
Both senior and football squads have been at loggerheads with the board since football manager Billy Morgan quit after being told he could no longer choose his selectors.
The row reached boiling point yesterday when hurler Ben O’Connor called on current football manager Teddy Holland and his selectors to step down.
