Armagh legend Kieran McGeeney has announced his retirement from inter-county football.
McGeeney (36) captained the Orchard County to its first and only All-Ireland triumph in 2002, the highlight of an inter-county career spanning 17 seasons.
It is understood he will continue to play club football for Na Fianna in Dublin.
During an illustrious career, McGeeney also represented Ulster in the Interprovincial series, and Ireland in the International Rules series against Australia.
His retirement could spell the end of an era for Armagh football, with a number of other senior members of the squad thought to be considering their future.
Manager Joe Kernan stepped down in August, and has been succeeded by Peter McDonnell, who led the county's Under-21 side to an Ulster title this year.
