Tyrone swept past Monaghan to book their place in the Dr McKenna Cup final tonight, running out 2-16 0-08 winners.

Stephen O'Neill and Declan Treanor both found the net at Breffni Park as Mickey Harte's side moved into a 2-6 to 0-5 lead at the break.

A dangerous challenge by Eoin Duffy and Martin Penrose led to the former Monaghan minor captain being red carded in the 42nd-minute.

Tyrone were buoyed for the remainder by the introduction of Brian Dooher, who has recovered from a knee injury.

The 2005 All-Ireland winning captain kicked two points to seal Tyrone's presence in Saturday's final against Donegal.
