O'Kelly succeeds Nolan as Offaly manager

Offaly confirmed the appointment of Paul O'Kelly as their senior football manager on Wednesday, almost a week earlier than anticipated. The Edenderry clubman will assume control of the senior panel ahead of this winter's League campaign having previously served as a selector under former manager Tommy Lyons.

It had originally been expected that the Offaly County Board would unveil an all-local management team at the November meeting on Tuesday week. Eddie Fleming (Clara) and Kevin Gavin (Ferbane) are expected to join O'Kelly as selectors.

O'Kelly succeeds Lyons' successor Padraig Nolan, who stepped down in July after just one year in charge following the county's All-Ireland qualifier defeat to Limerick. Kildare had knocked them out of the Leinster championship at the first hurdle.
