McIntyre has support to remain with Galway
Galway hurling board chairman Joe Byrne is keen for John McIntyre to remain in charge of the county senior side for a third year.
McIntyre's two-year term came to an end with the narrow defeat to his native Tipperary on Sunday, but Byrne wants to keep the management team in place for the 2011 campaign.
Speaking to the Irish Independent, Byrne said: 'I hope the management stay on.
'I think it is very important for the development of the team; they have so much work done. It is imperative they do stay on. We'll sit down with John in a few weeks time and make sure that happens.
'The lads realised that they were so near but so far against Tipperary.'
Earlier, this year, McIntyre steered Galway to victory over Cork in the Allianz NHL Division 1 decider, while the summer campaign saw a Leinster hurling final appearance against Kilkenny which ended in defeat for the Tribesmen.
