O'Connor believes Kerry's experience was key
Jack O'Connor believes experience was the difference between the Kerry and Limerick as the Kingdom claimed another Munster Senior Football title in Killarney on Sunday.
In a topsy-turvy game the Kingdom saw off a fightback from Mickey Ned O'Sullivan's side in the final quarter to record a 1-17 to 1-14 win.
O'Connor said: 'It was a tough battle, really tough.
'We thought we were home and dry there with 15 minutes to go but Limerick showed fierce character.
'It could have gone either way at the end. We just showed a bit of composure and a bit of experience. The subs we brought in really steadied us in the end.'
John Galvin's goal in the 54th minute gave Limerick a real boost after a mix-up in the Kerry defence.
It sparked a fine scoring spell for the Treatymen that brought them level, but late points from Colm Cooper, David Moran and Tomas O Sé saw Kerry over the line.
The Kingdom manager hopes the challenge of seeing off Limerick will help Kerry in future Championship matches.
He added: 'Subconsciously we took the foot off the pedal and gave a bad goal away. It brought Limerick back into it but it was a battle we were expecting and hopefully it will stand to us.
'The boys deserve this, the hard games against Cork stood to us.'
