Tyrone assistant manager Tony Donnelly has today dismissed reports that Enda McGinley has quit the panel.

However, McGinley has taken a break in an effort to recover from niggling injuries, and will not be involved in the county's remaining three NFL games, against Galway, Kerry and Dublin.

But he is expected to be back in action ahead of the Ulster Championship opener against Antrim on 23 May.

'It's only a temporary thing. He has had a few niggling injuries, and he was contemplating maybe missing out on the first part of the league,' said Donnelly.

'But they haven't cleared up, and it has affected his form and his ability to perform. So it's just a few weeks stepping back from it.'

It's understood the 29-year-old triple All-Ireland winner has a quad problem and other minor injuries, none of which are serious.

'There's none of them long-term or serious, but even at the McKenna Cup we were talking long and hard about it, and we thought he might miss out on the McKenna Cup, but he felt all-right and thought he could go again, but these niggles came back to him,' continued Donnelly.
