Galway boosted by Meehan injury update
Galway boss Joe Kernan has received a welcome boost with the news that Michael Meehan should be fit for the start of the Championship in May.
The Caltra clubman suffered a knee injury in Sunday's clash with Kerry and it was feared that Meehan would be ruled out for the remainder of the year.
But now, it appears that the 25-year-old forward should be fit for the start of the Championship, when the Tribesmen open their campaign against New York on 2 May.
Kernan confirmed that the injury was not as bad as it first appeared.
Speaking in Wednesday's Examiner, Kernan said: 'It is definitely not his cruciate.
'There is a small tear to his medial ligament and bruising to the bone. He is likely to miss four to six weeks but it is great news.
'I am delighted for him but for the team as well. It'll give them a real boost going training tonight. It is nearly as good as two points.'
