GAA reveals €21.5m profit for 2009
The GAA have announced an increase in profits for the ninth consecutive year, with group turnover rising to €50.8m.
The figure shows a significant increase on the 2008 turnover of €48.3m.
Profits from Croke Park after interest and depreciation, but before distributions, were totalled at €21.5m for 2009, a 6.8% jump from the previous year.
Páirc an Chrócaigh secretary Peadar MacCionnaith was thrilled with the results, but warned of difficult times ahead for the organisation:
'2010 will be a different year. Obviously we will not substitute the exceptional revenue generated from hosting soccer and rugby.'
'Lansdowne Road reopening and the Dublin Convention Centre will be additional competitors in the market place.
He continued: 'It will be our objective to introduce new experiences into Croke Park and to maintain the company as a positive cash contributor to central resources in line with our original strategic plan targets of €4m per annum.'
