Ger Reidy withdraws from Kerry panel

Kerry goalkeeper Ger Reidy has opted out of Jack O'Connor's squad to concentrate on his studies.

The Castleisland Desmonds shot-stopper had been the favourite to take the number one jersey after the retirement of Diarmuid Murphy, after he had been his understudy last season.

Reidy played in Kerry's opening NFL game against Dublin in Killarney this year, but Kilcummin's Brendan Kealy was preferred by O'Connor in the last two games against Cork and Derry.

However, Reidy has insisted that his decision is not down to him being left out of the starting 15 but is instead due to increased study commitments.
